November Letter

November 6, 2019

Dear Parents,

We are currently in the midst of “Discover Catholic Schools Week”, an excellent time to be reminded of our mission as a Catholic School.  While our children remember our mission using the acronym AMEN, in its totality it reads as follows.

As an educational community of the Roman Catholic Church and a vital part of St. Joseph Parish, our school teaches and lives the moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The Saint Joseph School Family welcomes and accepts the diverse gifts and talents each of us has been given by God, as we answer the call to model Jesus.  We nurture our gifts in the pursuit of our full potential as God’s children, growing spiritually, cognitively, creatively, and socially, working to bring forth the kingdom of God by sharing these gifts.  As an evangelizing community, we prepare each person to be a faith-filled, knowledgeable, articulate and confident member of the world in which we live.  St. Joseph School is a holy place where we discover each other in God’s love.”

We pray daily that our mission as a Catholic School—to strive for excellence in all areas of school life—is fulfilled in this wonderful school family.

We thank Mrs. Baukus, Ms. Morrell, and Mrs. Bustamonte for being here on Sunday to “kick off” New England Discover Catholic Schools Week with our Family Trivia and Book Fair.  Many thanks to the families, friends, and alumni who to contribute to the festivities. We also wish to thank our Superintendent, Mr. Henry Fiore, for visiting us yesterday, giving him the opportunity to say hello to our students during this Catholic School Week. We remind you that Thursday from 9-11 a.m. and 5:30-7 p.m. we will have Open House.  Please join us and if possible, bring with you a potential new family to see and share the “Good News” of St. Joseph School. Our Christmas Toy Collection for the “foster children” in our communities begins this week.  Bringing toy, large or small earns our students and staff the privilege of a casual day on Friday. A special treat will also be provided on Friday afternoon.

Tickets for the Father Castaldi Scholarship Dinner on November 15th Ocean Beach are available in the school office.  All proceeds will benefit scholarships given by St. Joseph School for those, who wish to choose a Catholic Education and are in need of assistance to pay the tuition. Our 8th Grade Bell Choir will be playing during the cocktail hour.

Handmade laser-cut St. Joseph School Christmas ornaments are available for purchased at the school office.  These beautiful ornaments are made and donated by Ashley and Colin Higgins.  All proceeds are given to the children of St. Joseph School.

All parents and staff are members of our Home and School Association.  Please look for coming meeting dates.  We need your constructive input and your assistance! A few cannot do everything!
