Letter from the Principal

                                                                                                                                      March 17, 2020

Dear St. Joseph School Families,

As I write this letter from home, I want everyone to know that you are in my prayers.  If we had been in school this week, our Lenten prayer would have centered around the water of Baptism.  For our second graders preparing for First Communion, this Baptismal water is all about belonging to a special family.  Please know that we are a family and we hope and pray that every member of our school family will remain safe and healthy.

Our teachers met yesterday to discuss our plans for now and going forward.  We ask that children continue to progress through the work assigned and that you as their parents continue to look for updates through our email/test/phone system, as well as the Rediker parent and student portals.  Everyone of us can learn something new each day.  After all we are making history as we speak and read and learn. We also discussed events that will need to be re-scheduled and/or cancelled.  Please be assured that everyone’s best interests will be taken into consideration. Plays and other activities will be re-scheduled and deemed necessary and possible.  Report cards scheduled for distribution this Friday will be held until our return to school or mailed if necessary. The Grade 8 pin ceremony will also be scheduled when we return. At this time graduation and surrounding events will remain as planned.

Mr. Moore has been busily cleaning our school to keep everyone safe upon our return. Mrs. Tejera and Mrs. Bailey have sanitized our offices (very busy places).

Please visit the website for the Diocese of Norwich CT for some wonderful ideas for prayer and observing this Lenten season.

I wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day and St. Joseph Day on March 19th.  You are in my prayers as we weather this latest storm.  Please keep the staff and I in yours.

           Sincerely,

          Marianne Cote
