Dear St. Joseph School Families,
Happy Easter Week to everyone! Alleluia! We have made it to Easter and vacation week.
At our faculty meeting yesterday (online), we discussed the wonderful progress that most of our school family is making. I congratulate our students, parents and our teachers for the tremendous effort that is being put forth by everyone and the support and patience we are seeing.
Unfortunately, there are still a few out in cyberspace who have not put in the effort or handed in their work during the past month, and therefore cannot be assessed. It is our responsibility as a school and part of the Catholic Schools of this Diocese and beyond to assess each student based on the work completed. We will be giving grades and not pass/fail as some school systems are adopting. This being said if there is no work to assess, we will have to consider the school year for those students as incomplete. If your student has missing work, you and your children (grades 4-8) have been notified by email.
Students in grades 4-8 have the ability to submit assignments through the student or parent portal. Students in grades K-3 can do so through the parent portal. There will be a drop-off for all grades on Monday, April 20th, as well as a pick-up for grades K-5. We will continue to do these at two-week intervals.
I ask all parents to be aware of continued communication with teachers through email. Teachers will also be attempting to meet with you and your children through Zoom and google meet and by the old-fashioned method of a phone call. We are also trying to be mindful of your time and space, as like us many of you are working from home.
We continue to plan for our 8th Grade Graduation when we return. We are aware that some of you are concerned for some closure for this school year and we continue to hope for our return prior to the end of the year. If this is not possible, please be assured that we will plan for something during the summer prior to beginning the new year.
These days require a great deal of creativity, ingenuity, and of course patience on everyone’s part. I am so proud of our school family and all we are doing! Please know that you continue to be in my prayers daily. If you need to reach me at any time, please email me at principal@sjsnl.org. I am happy to reach you by phone as well.
Sincerely,
Marianne Cote, Principal
