April 21, 2021
Dear St. Joseph School Families,
We continue to celebrate the Easter season, where the Alleluias have returned to our prayers, and we observe the New Life of the Resurrection and the spring season.
Once again I wish to thank everyone for their prayers and condolences at the loss of my brother Michael. Anyone who has had a sibling understands what a tremendous loss it can be and I am grateful for the support everyone has shown.
We congratulate our students who received their First Communion on April 11th. Please pray for them that this is the first of many times they will receive this beautiful Sacrament.
For future planning, warm weather uniforms will begin to be worn in May. This consists of khaki shorts not shorter than 4 inches above the knee; the royal blue polo with the school logo; black, white, navy or royal blue sneakers, and socks of the same colors. Patterned socks and sneakers are not acceptable. Anyone needing to order shirts should do so immediately, as they are made to order. The date in May will be announced in a future communication.
Once again we wish to thank Mrs. Tierney and Captain Scott’s for the Good Friday, fundraiser. We received a check for over $1600 as a result. Thank you to all who participated.
Application forms and the Kindergarten questionnaire must be completed for all prospective Kindergarten students, whether they are siblings of current students or not. These forms may be requested from the office, or printed from our website at www. sjsnl.com under Prospective Families. We are continuing to register students for the 2021-22 school year. Our best advertisement is word-of-mouth. Please spread the Good News of St. Joseph School. Next year, God-willing, we will have the opportunity to provide this wonderful education to additional students in the coming year.
Please note: Progress reports are being distributed on April 30th , not on April 23rd.
Next week we will start our last session of map testing for this school year. During this session, Grades 1-4 will also be introduced to this testing. All testing will be completed using Chromebooks. The Kindergarten will be testing for readiness for the 1st grade using an alternate test form.
On Friday, April 30th, our students will be treated to a presentation by the author and illustrator of “Yes”. Frankie Ann Marcille and Patrick Regan are alumni of St. Joseph School, and will make presentations to our students in a safe and health-conscious manner. Each student will receive a copy of “Yes”, which is listed on Amazon’s best-seller list. Frankie Ann and Pat will also host a book signing on Saturday, May 1st, at McCook Point Park in Niantic from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. All are invited to join in the fun.
You continue to be in our prayers. Please continue to keep us in yours.
Sincerely,
Marianne Cote, Principal
