Dear St. Joseph School Families,
This school year has flown by in spite of the challenges it has presented. Our entire school family has met these with prayer, hope, and courage as we moved forward. We are proud of everything that has been accomplished in this time of pandemic. We have about 5 weeks remaining in this school year. We pray that we may continue to work as hard as ever to learn and to do our best in a healthy and safe manner, as we are not out of the woods yet.
Several have asked about the possibility of parent attendance at Games Day and Awards Day. This decision and the format of each of these are still under discussion. Whatever the decision, it will be made with the safety of all in mind.
For future planning, wearing warm weather uniforms will begin on May 17th. Normally, we would have begun a week or two earlier; however, due to the colder temperatures we felt it necessary to wait. This uniform consists of khaki shorts not shorter than 4 inches above the knee; the royal blue polo with the school logo; black, white, navy or royal blue sneakers, and socks of the same colors. Patterned socks and sneakers are not acceptable. Anyone needing to order shirts should do so immediately, as they are made to order.
Ordering information for the current and coming school year may be found on our website at sjsnl.com under announcements. This includes 20% discount coupons for uniforms ordered prior to June 15th. May 11th is the deadline for virtual ordering in a timely manner for delivery for the next school year. Orders may be made online and by phone.
Our final day of school for this year will be on June 9th. This will be a short day—10:30 dismissal, as is our school tradition. The 3 days prior to this will be 12:30 p.m. dismissal day. These would be June 4th, 7th, and 8th. Afterschool care will be available on these days, but not on the 9th. The closing Mass will take place at 9 a.m. on the 9th. Students will be promoted and then return to school to receive their report cards and say their goodbyes for the summer. Students will not be dismissed earlier than the 10:30 dismissal time.
Registration continues for Grades K-7. If you are aware of someone who is interested in attending St. Joseph School for those grade levels please invite them to call the school office. Tours will resume after May 19th.
Thank you to all who are selling (or buying) the World’s Finest Chocolate Bars. We have a few boxes left for anyone who is interested. Money should be turned in ASAP.
If you have questions regarding NWEA Map testing, please contact your child’s teacher for this information
We congratulate and thank Frankie Ann Marcille and Patrick Regan, alumni of St. Joseph School, for sharing their time and talent in the presentations to our students last Friday, sharing their book “Yes, the Story of a Dreamer.” As you know Frankie Ann and Pat are the author and illustrator, respectively.
You continue to be in our prayers. Please continue to keep us in yours.
Sincerely,
Marianne Cote, Principal
