“A Holy Place Where We Discover Each Other In God’s Love.”

December 15, 2021

Dear St. Joseph School Families,

As we light the three Advent wreath candles, the pink is included this week. We are reminded of the joy that we anticipate, but has not yet arrived. Our Jesse Tree is being decorated with ornaments representing those who waited for the coming of the Messiah, as we listen to the stories that led to the birth of Jesus. Next week we will experience the day with the most hours of darkness for the season. As the days begin to lengthen (even by seconds), we will welcome Christ, the Light of the World. As we continue to remember the stories and the people who awaited the birth of Jesus, we remember all of you in our prayers.

We regret to inform those who ordered school sweatshirts, that Sportee’s is unable to fulfill our orders due to supply shortages. Your payments for these orders will be returned. Please look for those in your child’s belongings.

Lessons and Carols was a beautiful celebration of the Christmas season. It was wonderful to see so many of you in Church. Thank you for your support and the respect given to our restrictions for the safety of all concerned. I offer my thanks to all of our teachers and our guest pianist for all they did to make this celebration possible.

We also wish to remind everyone that there are only a few of the 2021 St. Joseph School laser cut wooden ornaments remaining. This year the ornament features a Lamp with the words “Be a light for all to see” with the school’s name and year. The cost is $20. Once again we thank Ashley and Colin Higgins, who made and donated these annual ornaments to our school.

On December 18th, the Home-School Association will provide dinner to the guests of the Community Meal Center on Montauk Avenue. You have graciously assisted in this effort in the past, and we ask you once again in these difficult times to give as you are able. You were sent the information needed for this kind remembrance of those who are hungry.

The Grade 6 play will be performed on December 21st for the students and the parents of our 6th graders. Once again this will be accomplished in 2 sessions. The 1 p.m. performance is for the parents of the students and the school’s older students. The younger students will see the play in the morning.

Christmas recess begins at 12:30 p.m. on December 22nd. There will be no after school care on that day.

Cell phone reminder: Students who carry cell phones to school must bring them in a plastic bag and leave them in the office during the day. No student is allowed a cell phone in their possession during the school day.

Many students are not bringing their water bottles to school. Please remind them to do so.

May this Advent time provide peace in your busy lives, giving you the opportunity to reflect on the reason for this time…the birth of Christ once again into our world and our hearts.

My prayers are with you. Please keep each of us in yours.

Sincerely,
Marianne Cote, Principal
