“This is a holy place where we discover each other in God’s love.”
January 19, 2022
Dear St. Joseph School Families,
The month of January is dedicated to the unity of all God’s people. May we pray for an end to violence against all faith traditions. May we pray that all people find hope and peace as we work toward the justice and peace for which Jesus Christ lived and died. We just celebrated the life of Martin Luther King, Jr., a man who knew well the call of Jesus in his life and for the world. May we seek to emulate him and all those like him who have answered the call to unify all God’s people.
When school is closed due to a weather event, you will be notified through a phone or text message. If this occurs, please check your messages. Do not call the school as no one will be in the building. Cancellations will also be announced on TV on Channel 3 (WFSB) and Channel 30 (WVIT).
Catholic Schools Week will be celebrated appropriately here at school. As with last year, our celebration will be modified in view of keeping everyone healthy. The dates of the celebration will be January 31st through February 4th. A calendar of in-school activities will be sent separately to keep everyone apprised of school activities.
As indicated in December, our annual Food Collection is taking place from January 18th through the 28th. As a Catholic School, we are called to serve those in need and Catholic Schools Week provides the perfect reminder to answer this call. The following items are needed: canned meats and tuna fish, canned soups, peanut butter, pasta and pasta sauce, canned vegetables, rice and beans. Please, no glass containers. Thank you for your generosity.
At the end of this month our students in Grade 3 will perform their play. As in the past months students will view the play in two sessions with Grade 3 parents invited to the afternoon session at 1 p.m.
The school has received a case of KN95 masks to share with our families. We will be sending a few masks home with each student for their and/or their family’s use.
Progress reports will be distributed on Friday, January 28th.
Please note: On February 15th and 16th we will have a cyber-safety presentation. February 15th will be a virtual, evening presentation for parents and guardians, while the 16th will be an in-school presentation for the students. Additional information will be forthcoming.
We continue to keep everyone in our prayers for health and safety in this trying time.
God’s Blessings on Everyone!
