“A Holy Place Where We Discover Each Other In God’s Love.”

April 27, 2022

Dear Parents,

We hope that everyone was able to spend some time with their children during the school’s spring break.  We know that not everyone is able to be on vacation at the same time, but regardless, we do hope you were able to relax with your children at some time.

NWEA Map testing has begun this week. This takes place during a very small portion of the day and not every class begins at the same time.  There is a 3 week window in which the testing is completed.

Our first visit for the re-accreditation from the NEASC Visiting Committee took place yesterday on April 26th. Your prayers were greatly appreciated as we move forward for school improvement. As mentioned previously, the final visit will take place in October.  Additional information and requests for your assistance will be forthcoming.

We wish to send a special “thank you” to Mrs. Bergeron on the occasion of Administrative Assistants Day!

With the warmer weather coming, we are considering when to begin with our warm weather uniform. We have been holding off a bit as the mornings have been quite cold, even into this week. Our plan is to start with the khaki shorts and polo shirts with our school logo on May 9th. This also means sneakers—solid blue, black, gray or white only—may be worn.

Our school sold 492 Ducks for the Pawcatuck River Duck Race through which our Home and School Association earned $1,400. Thank you to Mrs. Egan for bringing us the information and to Mrs. Bergeron for doing the work and making numerous trips to Westerly to support this fundraiser. We also thank our parents and friends of St. Joseph School who sponsored ducks.

We also thank Mrs. Tierney and Captain Scott’s for the Good Friday Fish Fry on our School’s behalf.  The Home and School Association earned $1,500 for this event. Thank you to all who supported this event.

Progress reports will be distributed on Friday, April 29th.  Please consult our May calendar for additional important dates, including play dates, Grade 1 Mother’s Day Tea, and field trips.

Field trips are being planned for the last weeks of this school year.  Please look for information from your child’s classroom teachers in the coming weeks.

You are in our prayers as you celebrate a Joyous Easter season!  Alleluia!

Sincerely,

Marianne Cote, Principal
