“This is a holy place where we discover each other in God’s love.”

May 11, 2022

Dear St. Joseph School Families,

The month of May is dedicated to our Blessed Mother Mary.  As with all mother’s, Mary watches over her children, keeping them loved and safe in the arms of her son Jesus. During this month may we remember Mary’s unconditional “Yes” when asked to be the Mother of Jesus. May we too find it within us to say “Yes” to all that Jesus asks of us.

At this time as we re-register our current students and register new students for next year, we pray that our Blessed Mother is watching over us and bringing new families to us who are interested in our wonderful school for their children.

We began wearing our warm weather uniform on Monday.  In this weekly letter it was suggested several times that you prepare for this date.  It seems that some were unable to do so.  Our used uniform bank of shorts and polo shirts has been exhausted.  If you are unable to find the appropriate uniform, please have your children wear the traditional uniform for the remainder of the school year.  Footwear for the traditional uniform remains the tan buck shoe at this time.  Students who are wearing shorts and polos may wear sneakers.  These must be solid black, blue, gray, or white. Thank you for your support in this. This information may also be found in the Handbook on our website.

In preparing for the coming school year, please be mindful of the fact that our uniforms are made to order, since each school wears its own plaid.  It is important to order early for this reason.  Those who order before mid-June usually receive a discount. Students entering 6th grade have a change in uniform style.  Please consult the Donnelly’s website or the uniform section of the Handbook for this information.

This Friday our first graders will present their play to their parents and the students. Upcoming plays include Kindergarten on May 27th and Grade 8 on June 2nd.  Parents, please mark your calendars. We also remind you that June 8th is our last day of school for this year with a dismissal time of 10:30AM. Dismissal on June 6th and 7th will be at 12:30PM with after school care available.

Our Band will hold its annual spring concert on May 25th at 6:30 in the evening. We encourage all who are available to join us in celebrating the musical talents of our students.

As we move toward our normal activity level, we are planning an Open House on the evening of May 26th from 5:00PM -7:00PM.  This is for new and prospective parents.  If you are aware of anyone entering grades Kindergarten through Grade 6 who may be interested in sending their children to St. Joseph School, please encourage them to attend this evening of touring and questions answered by faculty and staff.

We want to thank the following Home and School Association officers for their service to our school during the past several years: Presidents—Lisa Lazarou, whose son will be graduating this year; Eva Papathanasiou, whose daughter will be entering the 8th grade, and Secretary—Gillian Egan, whose daughter will also be graduating.  These officers will be stepping down, while our Treasurer—Jennifer Bustamonte will remain.  Many thanks for all you have done and will continue to do for our school.

We welcome new co-Presidents to share their talents in service to our school.  Mrs. Kristin Massad and Mrs. Susan Tierney will take on these positions.  I ask that everyone applaud their efforts and support their ideas as we continue to make St. Joseph School the wonderful school family it is.

We continue to keep everyone in our prayers and ask that you keep us in yours, as we continue this challenging school year.

God’s Blessings!
