“A holy place where we discover each other in God’s love”
November 2, 2022
Dear St. Joseph School Families,
As we enter the month of November we celebrate the Saints and we pray for the souls, striving to be saints. We pray especially for all those in our families who who now live with God.
The basketball season is right around the corner. An email was sent, as well as permission slips for your children in Grades 5-8 who wish to be a part our girls’ or boys’ basketball teams. Please return this to school by tomorrow in order that plans can be made. Mrs. Clare Powers will be coaching the girls’ team. We are still looking for a boys’ team coach.
Our first class play of the year was performed by Grade 4 on Friday. We congratulate them on a wonderful performance. Our upcoming play will be in November, performed by Grade 2. Each year we look forward to inviting our families to school for our class plays.
Our accreditation renewal visit is now behind us. Our Visiting Committee, representing the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, reported that the visit went “very, very well”. The Committee also commented on the “wonderful community that is evident in our school.” Now we await the written report and the final accreditation decision. Once received, we continue to plan for school improvement.
We thank the chairs of our school Halloween party that took place on Saturday for our school families. Many thanks to Erik Flaucher and Ashley Higgins, as well as parents and staff who assisted. We also thank our 8th graders who came to distribute candy to the younger children.
October 31st was a Dress Down Day for our school. Over $300 was raised for The Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation. The children in Grades K-5 decorated pumpkins to bring home. We thank Mrs. Roark and her mother Mrs. Hurlburt for organizing this activity. A Disney movie was also shown to the whole school.

As always, St. Joseph School continues under the guidance of our Norwich Diocese and the parish of the St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Community. As you are the first educators of your children. you entrust us to educate your children in the best possible way. We take this trust seriously!
Prayer and spirituality are integral to who we are as God’s people, and as a school family. We continue to seek God’s help with all that we do, and to thank Him for all that we’ve been given.
Please continue your prayers for our families, our staff, our school, and all who are in need of prayer due to illness, tragedy and violence.
God’s Blessings to All,
