Dear St. Joseph School Families,

With Catholic Schools Week, starting on Sunday, the theme of which is Faith, Excellence, Service, we are looking forward to resuming our annual breakfast on Sunday the 29th. We are in need of helpers on clean-up detail and of course families to eat the delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries, and pancakes. The cost is $10 for adults, and $5 for kindergarten through 8th grade. Younger children eat free.
Our Casual Day for Charity, enabled the delivery of over six hundred pair of socks for the homeless. Thank you for your caring and service to our community. Once again, we wish to thank all those who currently offer their time and talents to see that school activities continue. As you know fundraising activities are necessary and cannot be successful without everyone’s assistance.

Also, looking forward to Catholic Schools Week, we are planning an Open House visiting time for families on Wednesday, February 1 st from 9:15-11:15 a.m. Please bring a friend who may be interested in sending children to our school. Thursday, is Student Appreciation Day with a pizza and ice cream lunch and special activities.  Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day is Friday. Please join us for the celebration of the Mass on Friday in Church at 9 a.m. prepared by the Kindergarten and Grade 4. New student registration is currently underway for the 2023-2024 school year.

Today, January 25th , the Home and School Association has been asked to lead a second Focus Group meeting to discuss the “in-process” New London Community
Center, and what services and activities you would like to see as a part of the Center. Our participation comes with a stipend to the school from a grant that the New London
Recreation Department has received. The meeting tonight is at 6:00 p.m. at the school.  We thank you for participating.

Some reminders include the following.

  • Each child must bring a non-glass water bottle to school for drinks of water during the day. We have depleted our disposable cup supply.
  • All families are asked to continue to review the uniform and personal appearance section of the handbook (on the website and in hard copy sent home).
  • The Grade 7 play will be performed January 27th at 1 p.m.
  • Catholic Schools Week begins on Sunday, January 29th with our Breakfast and concludes on February 3rd with an appreciation luncheon for our faculty and staff.
  • February 10 – Progress Reports will be distributed.
  • February 14 (Valentine’s Day) – Donuts with Dads, Grand Dads, Uncles or a special adult. 7:45-8:15 a.m. in the school auditorium.

When school is closed due to a weather event, you will be notified through a phone message, text, and email. If this occurs, please check your messages. Do not call
the school, as no one will be in the building on those days. Cancellations will also be announced on TV on CBS 3 (WFSB) and NBC 30 (WVIT).

We continue to keep everyone in our prayers for health and safety. Please keep us in yours.

God’s Blessings on Everyone!
