“A holy place where we discover each other in God’s love”
September 20, 2023
Dear St. Joseph School Families,
Each year the Diocese and the School require our principal, faculty and staff to attend a retreat day. This Friday there will be no school in order to allow us to do this. We will be in retreat at Enders Island in Mystic for the day. Please pray for us that this day is successful and we will be including you in our prayers as well.
Tonight, the children have the opportunity to bring their parents and/or grandparents to visit their classrooms! This takes place from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Please remember the warm weather uniform is to be worn through October 9th, barring any extremely cold weather. Formal uniforms are to be worn starting on October 10th. These uniforms are made to order by Donnelly’s and should have been ordered already to be received in a timely matter. I remind you that the only acceptable shoes to be worn with the more formal uniform are the tan suede bucks or solid black sneakers (no logos or white showing, including the sole.) For the girls, knee socks or tights are to be worn. Girls should wear shorts under their skirts, but these may not hang below the hemline of the skirt. Leggings are not acceptable under the uniform during the school day.
We are selling World’s Finest Chocolate Bars once again. This is a quick and beneficial fundraiser. The money earned will go into our field trip fund. When the chocolate arrives, we will send one box with each family, unless two are requested, initially. It would be helpful if families with multiple children could sell an additional box. We ask that you return the cost of each box ($60) within two weeks. Please do not return partial boxes, as you will be held responsible for the cost of the entire box.
When your children are going to be out of school for any reason, you are required to call the office at 860 442-1720.
As always, our Mission provide the excellence in education, spiritual, academic and social/emotional. “To Accept each person as a unique creation in God’s image; to Model Jesus as we make everyone feel welcome in this holy place; to Educate each other for life; and, to Nurture the diverse gifts and talents of the whole school family.” Our students recite this Mission and discuss its meaning each day.
Prayer and spirituality are integral to who we are as people, and as a school family. We continue to embrace God’s help in all that we do.
Please continue your prayers for our families, our staff, our school, and all who are in need of prayer at this time.
