“A holy place where we discover each other in God’s love”

October 11, 2023

Dear St. Joseph School Families,

The students and staff continue to pray the Rosary this month for world peace.  Please pray with us when you have the opportunity.

We apologize for the calendar mix-up regarding yesterday (Tuesday). A revised calendar was sent to you, as well as the monthly calendar. The bus company also received the revision, indicating that school would be in session on Tuesday.

The wearing of formal uniforms started on Tuesday. Once again I remind you that the only acceptable shoes to be worn with the more formal uniform are the tan suede bucks or solid black sneakers (no high tops). Girls are to wear navy blue knee socks or navy tights. If the girls are wearing shorts under skirts, these may not hang below the hemline of the skirt. Leggings are not acceptable with uniforms during the school day.

The payment for World’s Finest Chocolate Bars will go to our enrichment and field trip fund. Payment for the boxes you received initially is past due. The cost of the full box is $60. Please do not return partial boxes, as you are being held responsible for the $60 cost of the entire box.  Chocolate money is due.

The potluck supper originally scheduled on October 12th to celebrate our individual Cultures and Countries of Origin has been postponed to a later date, due to the number of families unable to participate at this time.

For those of you whose children in Grades 5-8 would like to play basketball for St. Joseph School, only one parent has come forward to offer help.  I have sent home the requirements for this volunteer task several times.  It does include approval by the Office for Safe Environments and attendance at a meeting for coaches and parents of players.  A minimum of 8 volunteers is necessary. The deadline is October 20th. Players also have to complete paperwork. After that date it will be too late to begin.

School pictures will be taken this month. On October 25th Class Pictures will be taken.  These are in full uniform. On October 26th Individual Pictures will be taken.  This is a day on which you choose the outfit, as long as it is “school appropriate”. This is a yearbook picture for 8th graders. Boys will wear a dress shirt and tie for the picture. Girls will wear an appropriate dress, blouse or sweater, skirt or dress slacks.

Remember our Mission: “To Accept each person as a unique creation in God’s image; to Model Jesus as we make everyone feel welcome in this holy place; to Educate each other for life; and, to Nurture the diverse gifts and talents of the whole school family.”

Prayer and spirituality are integral to who we are as people, and as a school family. We continue to embrace God’s help in all that we do.   Please continue your prayers for our families, our staff, our school, and all who are in need of prayer at this time.
