“A holy place where we discover each other in God’s love”

October 18, 2023

Dear St. Joseph School Families,

The students and staff continue to pray the Rosary this month for world peace.  Please pray with us when you have the opportunity.

Home-School Association Meeting tonight at 6 p.m.

School pictures will be taken this month. On October 25th Class Pictures will be taken.  These are in full uniform. On October 26th Individual Pictures will be taken.  This is a day on which you choose the outfit, as long as it is “school appropriate”. This is a yearbook picture for 8th graders. 8th grade boys will wear a dress shirt and tie for the picture. 8th grade girls will wear an appropriate dress, blouse or sweater, skirt or dress slacks. Orders forms for pictures are going home today. Please complete and include payment for individual pictures. Then return the forms to the teacher on or before the 25th.

Grades 3-5 will attend the Coast Guard Concert on October 27th, while Grades 6-8 will attend on the 30th. This is an annual event that we have been privileged to attend for many years.

Parent/Teacher Conferences take place on November 2nd and 3rd.  Appointment slips will be sent home this week to indicate your choices.  Clearly not everyone can be met in the same time slot; therefore, you will be asked to indicate 1st and 2nd choices.

Christmas Wreaths will be for sale with delivery on November 30th. Further information to follow.

On November 6th our students will be treated to a presentation of Pinocchio by the Traveling Lantern Production Company, paid for by the Home and School Association fundraising efforts.  Field trip buses are also subsidized by our efforts to raise money for the students.

Discover Catholic Schools Week (an informational and marketing week for our schools) will take place the week of November 13th. As a reminder, Monday November 13th is a professional development day for the Diocese and there will be no school for the students. Open House for our school will take place during that week on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m.-11a.m. and from 5:00-6:30 p.m.  Please spread the word to your friends who do not attend our school.  We are always hoping to invite new families to join our St. Joseph School family.

Remember our Mission: “To Accept each person as a unique creation in God’s image; to Model Jesus as we make everyone feel welcome in this holy place; to Educate each other for life; and, to Nurture the diverse gifts and talents of the whole school family.”

Prayer and spirituality are integral to who we are as people, and as a school family. We continue to embrace God’s help in all that we do.   Please continue your prayers for our families, our staff, our school, and all who are in need of prayer at this time.
