“A holy place where we discover each other in God’s love”
October 25, 2023
Dear St. Joseph School Families,
October is the month of the Rosary. As you know we have been praying for peace in our communities and in our world. The end of October doesn’t signal the end of praying the Rosary, or the end of prayers for peace. Please continue to pray every day. As we approach the beginning of November, we remember All Saints Day on November 1st. Our Mass for this day will take place in the auditorium at 9 a.m., as we pray that all those saints who live in God’s kingdom will remember and watch over us. On November 2nd we remember all those who have died and are in need of our prayers.
Tomorrow, on Thursday, October 26th, individual pictures will be taken. This is a day on which you choose the outfit, as long as it is “school appropriate”. This is a yearbook picture for 8th graders. 8th grade boys will wear a dress shirt and tie for the picture. 8th grade girls will wear appropriate yearbook picture clothing. Order forms for pictures went home with you children last week. Please complete this form, and include payment for individual pictures. Then return the forms to their teacher.
Grades 3-5 will attend the Coast Guard Concert on October 27th, while Grades 6-8 will attend on the 30th. This is an annual event that we have been privileged to attend for many years. Please remember to return the permission slip sent home with your children.
Progress reports will be distributed on Friday. Parent/Teacher Conferences take place on November 2nd and 3rd. Appointment slips must be returned to your children’s teachers by tomorrow to indicate your choices. Clearly not everyone can be met in the same time slot; therefore, you will be asked to indicate 1st and 2nd choices. It is expected that everyone attend a conference with the respective teachers.
Christmas Wreaths will be for sale for delivery on November 30th. Further information to follow.
On November 6th our students will be treated to a presentation of Pinocchio by the Traveling Lantern Production Company, paid for by the Home and School Association fundraising efforts. Field trip buses are also subsidized by our efforts to raise money for the students.
Discover Catholic Schools Week (an informational and marketing week for our schools) will take place the week of November 13th. Monday, the 13th, is a professional development day for the Diocese and there will be no school for the students. Open House for our school will take place during that week on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m.-11a.m. and from 5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Please spread the word to your friends who do not attend our school. We are always hoping to invite new families to join our St. Joseph School family.
Colder weather means jacket time. We do go outside to the playground in the morning.
Remember our Mission: “To Accept each person as a unique creation in God’s image; to Model Jesus as we make everyone feel welcome in this holy place; to Educate each other for life; and, to Nurture the diverse gifts and talents of the whole school family.”
Prayer and spirituality are integral to who we are as people, and as a school family. We continue to embrace God’s help in all that we do. Please continue your prayers for our families, our staff, our school, and all who are in need of prayer at this time.
