“This is a holy place where we discover each other in God’s love.”
April 3, 2024
Dear St. Joseph School Families,
ALLELUIA! Happy Easter! The Easter Season is with us and will be for several weeks to come. Easter is most of all about NEW LIFE in Jesus Christ! Easter is about the new life to which each of us is called because Jesus himself—human and divine—brought this gift to us on the very first Easter morning! We continue to rejoice in the knowledge that because we are loved unconditionally by God, we too will rise again! We hope that everyone has had some rest and relaxation with the children, but we also know that this isn’t always a possibility. This being said it’s our hope that Easter has brought some renewal to everyone’s life.
We congratulate and thank our 8th graders who participated in the Living Stations on Good Friday night. For those who attended, a very prayerful and reverent presentation of the stations was observed. Thank you to all who were able to be with us.
We remind everyone that you are being asked to contribute to your classroom baskets for our Basket Social, taking place on Friday, April 19th. You were sent a list of the classroom themes a few weeks ago.
Special Alert! You may have seen the Special Olympics “Over the Edge” at Mohegan Sun last year. All proceeds go to support Special Olympics. This year the Diocese of Norwich is asking our schools to participate. There are 11 of us at St. Joseph who have agreed to rappel from the Mohegan Sun Hotel, and we will need to raise $1250 each. We feel we can do this with the support of area businesses and our own family and friends. Our school will support, in part, with our next two casual days. “Over the Edge for Special Olympics CT takes place on August 30, 2024. Bishop Cote has given all schools who participate the day off in order that families and remaining staff can be our cheerleaders at the hotel. Currently, our list of participants includes Miss Cote, Mrs. Andriks, Mrs. Batch, Mrs. Bustamonte, Mrs. Egan, Ms. Ford, Ms. Kornacki, Ms. Lakowsky, Ms. Lawton, Mrs. Pisarz, and Mrs. Williamson.
