April 17, 2024

Dear St. Joseph School Families,

With Easter and Spring vacation behind, we are in the final months of this school year. With April well underway, we’ve entered a very busy time of the school year and I ask that you pay close attention to letters, calendars and any emails or texts that may be sent to you. There are many activities taking place that may require you and/or your children’s presence at school. One of these activities is our spring concert, which has been mentioned for several weeks now. This involves all students in grades 2-8. Please take note of the information that has been sent home to you. School success requires all hands on deck, and everyone’s participation.

Our Basket Social (Fundraiser) is taking place on Friday, April 19th. Doors open at 5 p.m.  You were sent a list of the classroom themes a few weeks ago and asked to contribute an item to that basket. Some have yet to do so.

Our Walk-a-thon is coming soon on May 18th. Please refer to the information, t-shirt orders and sponsor/donations sheet that came home previously.

Many of our families have contributed to everything, many have contributed as they were able, but some have not done their part either by helping or participating financially. This is unacceptable since all of your children are benefitting through the efforts of some. It is so very important that we work as a school family for the benefit of all!

Our Casual Day on Thursday, April 25 will benefit Special Olympics CT and our St. Joseph School Faculty and Staff team for “Over the Edge” at Mohegan Sun.  Please see the information below.

Special Alert! You may have seen the Special Olympics “Over the Edge” at Mohegan Sun last year. All proceeds go to support Special Olympics CT. This year the Diocese of Norwich is asking our schools to participate. There are 11 of us at St. Joseph who have agreed to rappel from the Mohegan Sun Hotel (30 Stories down), and are in the processing of raising $1250 each. So far we have raised over $7000 of the $13, 750 needed. This has come from our own families and friends as well as, former parents and students. Our school will support, in part, with our next two casual days. “Over the Edge for Special Olympics CT takes place on August 30, 2024. Bishop Cote has given all schools in the Diocese who participate the day off in order that families and remaining staff can be our cheerleaders at the hotel. Currently, our list of participants includes Miss Cote, Mrs. Andriks, Mrs. Batch, Mrs. Bustamonte, Mrs. Egan, Ms. Ford, Ms. Kornacki, Ms. Lakowsky, Ms. Lawton, Mrs. Pisarz, and Mrs. Williamson. Thank you for your support. Not only does this support a very important cause, but also says something important about our St. Joseph School and its mission and commitment to service!
