“A holy place where we discover each other in God’s love”
July 18, 2024
Dear St. Joseph School Families,
We will welcome all registered students back to school on August 28th for our 87th school year. You should have received our School Calendar for the 2024-2025 with important dates for the coming year, but just in case, we are attaching it here as well. You may also find this calendar on our website at www.sjsnl.com. If changes need to be made they will be reflected in your monthly calendars and in my weekly letters. Should your email address, your mailing address, or your phone number change, please notify the school, immediately.
Please remember the warm weather uniform is to be worn until the transition in October. This transition is dependent upon weather, but usually takes place in mid-October.
There will be some changes to our staffing this year, due to retirements and personal choices. Mrs. Butchka has retired and we extend our sincere thanks to her for 35 years of service and inspiration to the students of St. Joseph School. We are so pleased to have a smooth transition in that position, as Mrs. Diana Blanda-Smith our talented music teacher will also take on the Art and Latin positions left by Mrs. Butchka. Mrs. Bustamonte has left to complete her master’s degree in education, and we express our gratitude for her many years of service to our school. Ms. Kornacki has left to pursue an alternate career. Many thanks to her for her time with us. They will be missed, but always considered a part of our St. Joseph School family. We continue to search for teacher who can fill these positions. We are looking forward to adding new members to our faculty, staff, and student family, as we continue to be the excellent K through 8 school that we are, serving the spiritual, academic, and social needs of our students.
As we begin the next school year, each family will receive the 2024-2025 Parent and Student School Handbook. For now, we would ask that you review the standards put forth for each student’s personal appearance, uniforms, and discipline procedures. You and your children will be required to sign an acknowledgement that you have familiarized yourselves with the Handbook, and its policies. This and your tuition agreement serve as your contract to meet your financial and moral agreements with the school.
Kindergarten orientation will take place on August 19th at 5:30 p.m. We ask that Kindergarten parents join us at this time for valuable information regarding your children’s Kindergarten experience at St. Joseph School. We look forward to seeing you and your children on that day!
As always, we seek to provide the excellence in education that we have always provided! Our Mission remains the same: “To accept each person as a unique creation in God’s image; to model Jesus as we make everyone feel welcome in this holy place; to educate each other for life; and, to nurture the diverse gifts and talents of the whole school family.”
We will continue to nourish the whole child, seeking to educate the mind, the body, and the soul. As always, prayer and spirituality are integral to who we are as people, and as a school family. We continue to place God at the forefront of all that we are do, as we anticipate another wonderful school year. We thank you for the privilege of sharing in the faith formation and education of your children.
Should you have questions regarding the opening of school for the coming year, please call the school office at 860 442-1720.
Please continue your prayers for our families, our staff, our school, and all who are in need of prayer during these summer months. My wish is that you find some time simply to enjoy your children.
God’s Blessings on All
